The Whole Year Reflections
2018 has been a great year for me, cause I have been able to accomplish being friends with everyone in our class. 3 words I will use to describe this year would be memorable, achievable and challenging. 1 achievement I was most proud of is being able to be confident around everyone in our class. I discovered that if I put my mind into I will be able to complete task faster. The biggest impact in my life is probably my parents because they have always been helping me be the best I am. 5 people that I spend most of my time is with Toma, Deme, Amon, Suave and Tevita.
My pod of friends has helped me achieved lots, including growling. They have always got my back when I was seriously in trouble. Something i found out about my group of friend was that throughout the year we have changed from best friends to brothers.

Meeting Famous People
Today I was so surprised when I met 2 famous rugby players from the All Blacks. When they shaked my hand I thought I had the power of being the best rugby player. Then we were playing touch with them but we wanted to play rugby. I felt really happy playing with players I look up to and it was good for them to come down and help us. I was really tired chasing after them because they were really fast but I think they were only jogging on us. They were, Akira Ioane and Patrick Tuipulotu. They both played for the rugby team blues.

DEBATE
WALA: The Important of forming an opinion/having a belief.
Today for writing we were talking about persuasive writing. We were debating about 3 different statements. One statement that really made me think was "There Should Be No School ". Of Course most people were thinking to disagree but I tried to challenge myself and give my reasons why people should agree.
Everyone in our class shared their opinion on why we should have school rules. But some chose that we should have school rules and I was really convinced and I gave my thoughts and opinions on why we should have no school rules. My opinion was that parents will be able to save money because since there is no rules.

Maths
IALT: Solve a division problem and talk about the strategies I used.
Today for Maths we were doing our Screencastify and it was amazing. I got to get all 3 videos completed today. What I found challenging was trying my best to explain the answer on my video. I also dont like sharing my face in videos so the video might not have my face in it. Next time I could practice on my confidence so next time you guys/ girls can see my face. Here is the link to my screen recording.

Reading
IALA: NATIVE NEW ZEALAND ANIMALS
Today for reading we have been answering some questions about a text we have finished reading. This text is about a group of men who created a trap for our pests. This trap was mostly for rats and possums. When they first tested it, it didn't work so they decided to do a bit of research on possums. Now they found out that possums is addicted to the smell of cinnamon and that it uses its nails to climb trees. They made there trap spray 2 times as powerful and it killed the possums straight away.
Next time I could try and create a even better trap for pests and this one could kill pest 100 times faster than others. I have learnt so much about traps and bi security after reading this text. What I found challenging was trying to find some answers to the questions I was given.

Reading Task
Today we got given a task from Miss Aireen.Today for reading we read an article about pests. The article was talking about an invention that 3 men had made to stop pests. What we had to do was answer 6 questions about the article. Here is a DLO that I created with my buddy Toma.
What I found challenging was trying to answer the questions. Next time I could improve my reading skills so I will answer the questions really fast.

My Critical Analysis Of A Still Image
I am learning to reflect about critical analysis of a still image.
Today for reading we were given three pictures and in those pictures we had to answer some question following up with it. Today I have decided to show a photo that I have been shared with.

In this photo, to me it looks like a man has accidentally fell in. but something wrong with this picture is that people are just driving past not helping him, including policies. To help people not have this same accident, they should secure the hole more better, for example adding gates around or putting cones around it so people are aware of the hole of water. If this photo was taken on another angle then I have a feeling that it is just gonna be more people videoing this or taking pictures of him.
If the man that is stuck was cropped out and we can only see the reactions of the policeman, we would think that it is nothing serious because he doesn't look worried at all.
Astria Game
Today was part 2 of the game that we had to play yesterday. This game is mostly about reading and trying to find clues. It is basically a mystery game. It was so fun but it was really kind of hard because we didn't know where to go. Something I really enjoyed about this game is that I was able to work in pairs with my buddy and that I was able to complete it with him.
Next time when I have the chance to play this game I will really use my synthesising skills in it. To get better at this I would start practising my reading skills for example, analysing and synthesising.

HailStone
BANG!!! SCREECH!!! as the hailstone was on the attack...........
As I was walking around outside, clouds were getting darker and to me it was like this was punishment for not eating my veggies. Rumbling sounds were going off, it almost sounded like Lions were having a war in the clouds. Hail started coming heavily to the ground, I couldn't believe what I just witnessed. It looked like clear peas roughly coming down. As I was looking around, cars were slowing down, trees were dancing faster than ever and people running to shelter.
I was really hyped by seeing all these amazing action until I found out that I was walking home today. Walking home in pain coming back with bruises the next day, all thanks to the terrifying hailstone.

Athletics Reflection
On the 16th of November 2018 we had School Athletics. Our school athletics was placed on the Tamaki Primary School field. The events that happened on the field was Long Jump, Standing Jump, Running, Shot Put and Discuss. My favourite event that happened on the school field was Shot Put because it was fun being competitive with the other houses and being able to try throw it as far as I can. We had different types of races, there were 50m, 75m, 100m and 400m. There were also team relays.
A school value I showed at the athletics day was Whanaungatanga because I was building relationships with everyone in our house team, I got to meet people I haven't talked to. Another person I have captured showing the school values was a member from the community. He saw that there were lots of people waiting to buy the sausage sizzles and Ice blocks so he decided to pay for the whole stock of food so that it is free for everyone. To me that was a really good thing to do and to give back to the community, I hope 1 day people can do the same and pay it forward.
Something that I learnt about myself is that I am able to complete tasks when I put my mind into it and give it my best. another thing that I learnt about myself is that I am able to communicate with others well throughout the day.

Inquiry
Today I was just adding the photos to finish off our piece of work. We were all done with the text but all we needed to do today was too add pictures. I really enjoyed today's task because I completed it in the time we were meant to complete it in. Next time I could put in photos that relate to the task, cause the photos I used are beach related, well some of them.
Maths
I AM LEARNING TO REFLECT ABOUT MATHS.
Today for maths we did a grid. A grid is when you get questions and each has a letter, when you get the answer to the question you find the answer on the grid and place your letter on it. I really enjoyed it because it was very challenging but easy to do at the same time as well. Something I did not enjoyed was trying to get the answer done as fast as possible, but the faster I went it made me muck up sometimes. The sentence that was spelt out at the end was"EACH YEAR INSECTS EAT OF THE WORLD'S FOOD CROPS". What I found challenging was trying to find the answer to the question, but then it started getting a little easy for me. Next time I could practice more to get faster and faster. And when I do that I could try and solve it in my head.

Manaiakalani
Today we went to the Sylvia Park Hoyts Cinemas to watch other schools films. I really enjoyed walking past people I know from other schools. I saw a couple of friends that I know and they were waving to me. When we got inside it was really dark, before the films started there was girl from Panmure Bridge explaining to us about the Manaiakalani. It was Manaiakalani 11'th anniversary. Something that I didn't enjoy was that I heard people talking behind me and it was too loud. Something I really enjoyed was watching classes from our school films.

Flag Football
Today was our first lesson of flag football. I really enjoyed it because back when I went to the states whenever we went to a field always say people playing football. Our instructors name were Karl and Will. We started off with a exercise, we had to get in a circle and whenever Karl yells out Chop it up, we have to sprint on the spot and when he says break it down we stomp on the ground and say "HOO". We had to keep going inside cause it kept on raining while we were playing.
What I found challenging was trying to make the ball go to the place I want it to go. Next time I could probably work on my accuracy and my aiming skills.
Reading Test
Today we had a reading test and I was really nervous. When the test had started I was really scared because the story started off with some big words that I never knew about. But as I were reading those words in a sentence it made it more easier for me to understand. During the test I was really doing well until I struggled at this 1 question. I was stuck on it for around 10 minutes. But I had to read it 10 times just to get the answer.
What I found challenging was trying to get the test done as fast as possible. Next I could maybe really think about the question before I answer it.
How has cars changed overtime?
Link To Work
Today we were given a assignment to discover how Technology has changed overtime. We had different options to choose between. Me and My buddy decided to choose cars. We were so shocked when we had found out that the first car didn't have a roof and it wasn't as fast as I thought it was. Cars changing overtime has affected our lives cause because it is able to take us to places faster than walking.
A challenge I have found through this assignment is trying to find more facts and history about the different cars. What I have found really fun was being able to put our own thoughts and also buddying up with someone I dont really talk too. He is really amazing and unique in a good way.

Abstract art
WALA: The Technology's we use for Abstract Art
Today for our next lesson for our pre visit for te tuhi. First we had to name down what technologies we use when we are creating art. We came up with lots of ideas like pens, pencil, colored pencil, art pencil and also art pen. Today I learnt that some technologies aren't electronic. For example a spoon is a technology but does not require power to use unless it is a electric spoon which I haven't heard of.
I also learnt the technologies our parents used way back in the centuries and the technology we use nowadays. Nowadays we use Xboxes, Playstations, IPhones and Samsungs. But back in the days they had Snakes and ladders, Nintendo, Nokia and Telephones. Technology has made a big difference to the world.
Abstract Art
WALT:Find out what Abstract art is.
Today we were learning about Abstract art. We were learning about what it is. We are learning about this because we are preparing for Te Tuhi next week Tuesday. Abstract means paintings that look realistic. When creating Abstract paintings it could be created using paint and paintbrushes. I am really excited for next week Tuesday.

What is Technology
Everyday I am using Technology but I dont even notice. There are some Technology that people think is not Technology for example, spoon, forks, knives and shovels. There are lots of Technologies that are useful in my family. There are ovens so we are able to cook food. There are spoons, fork and knives to eat our food. And of course there's tables for us to eat on. Every technology has a useful purpose and it is to make things easier for us.
Back in the old days Men and Woman had to go to lakes and river to gather water for their family. But with Technology we have Taps and Sinks for us to drink out of. I am really thankful for Technology. Today we learnt the different types of Technology's.

Holiday Reflection
Talofa Lava, Kia ora, Malo e lelei, Fakalahi atu and greetings to you all.
This is my first blog for Term 4.
IALT: Reflect on what we did during the holidays
I did not do a lot but I do have some highlights. My first highlight that I really enjoyed was being able to communicate with my friends even though we were far from each other. I was able to call them and play fortnite with them. I also really enjoyed calling them cause whenever I was bored they will always be doing something funny.
My second highlight was going to paintball with my family. I didn't really enjoy it because it was really sore. So I decided to triple my clothes so it wouldn't hurt but it was still sore so I decided to just stay in one spot and if someone came to me i'll just shoot them. Something I really enjoyed was being able to hurt my older brother for all those times he hurts me.
My last highlight of my holidays was the return of my cousins mission. There was lots of crying and also lots of food. Something I really enjoyed, of course was the food but also meeting family members I haven't met before. It was good seeing families from around the world like the States, Samoa, Australia and I also had a uncle that came from the Philippines.
That was my 3 highlights of my holidays.
Please comment down below and tell me what your highlight of the holidays were.

My Pepeha
Yesterday we made a Pepeha again. It was very cool because it was very challenging to try and understand what it was trying to tell us. I was trying to go on translater to check but nothing came up. So I was trying to ask the people around me but they didn't understand too. Something I found very challenging was trying to find out what my waka or iwi was.

KiwiSport
During our 2nd to last day of Kiwisport we were doing combos. The combos looked very easy so I decided to go fast but as I was going fast I never knew that were doing in a time limit so my arms started to hurt but I still never gave up and went until she said stop. Once she said stop it was like the best words I heard throughout the whole day. Then after we did our first combo she needed a volunteer to show the next combo and lucky for me I was her volunteer. When I got up I was so scared that if I did a move wrong I could of got hit in the face. But then I followed her instructions and that made me not get hit. Something I really need to work on is creating myself a paste and also aiming for the right spot. Next time I can keep on practicing and making sure im always being fit.

P.E
Today for the Morning block we were doing some P.E to get our brains energised for the day. First we had to run around the bike track non stop. I found it really challenging because that is not what I usually do. But as I was running I was creating a paste that I can go with and that really helped me to complete a whole lap. After running around the bike track we went to the top courts and started to do some exercise. Our first exercise we did was walking lounges and I found it really cool. The second exercise we did was side shuttles. I found it really tiring but fun at the sametime.
After all our exercises we did golden child. Lucky for me I was the last runner which means that I was golden child. Once everyone had their turn running it was up to me to make the team win or lose. As I was running I kept looking at the hoop to see if any one got it in but then we made it to the finish line.

Maths
IALT: Find a easy and effective way to figure out the answer
For maths we were learning about improper maths. I had a head start because I have learnt how to do it in the past. When we were given our worksheet I got straight on to it and started figuring out the answers as fast as I can. In the worksheet we had to try spell out something but to get the letters we had to figure out one of the problems. I have got all the letters to the sentence but as I was reading it, it didn't make sense. It said "France was the greatest roaf". I was really confused but I don't have enough time to go over it and fix it.
Something I enjoyed was that I knew how to do it and I wasn't really confused with what the Teacher was telling us. Something I need to work on it being able to go slow so I am able to rethink my answer and then write it down.

Rugby Training
IALT: Work on protecting the try line
Last night we had training and for training we were doing fitness. For fitness we were doing something called Broncos. In broncos there is a set of cones than we have to run to and back. The first cone was 10 metres far, the second cone was 30 metres far and then the last cone was 50 metres far. We had to run to all those cones and back, and we had to do it under 6 minutes. I finished 3rd and I was really proud of myself for not walking the whole time. After we did doing Broncos we had to work on our defense line, and during that little drill we had to protect everyone from scoring the try. When the biggest runner in out team was running, everyone was scared so we ran the opposite way. Then we ended training with a little speech from the coach.
I really enjoyed that I was able to break lines and also getting my tackles. What I didn't really enjoyed was always being really scared of the big runner. Something I really need to work on is not being scared and trying to find a easier and effective way of tackling big people. Next time I can probably practice and practice to get better.

Tuakana Teina Day
Yesterday for Tuakana teina room 4 and 5 came to our class. Room 4 came to our class first. There were only a little of them, so our class had to buddy up with someone from our class so the numbers can be even. Then we got to pick our buddy, and we chose Pauliasi. We chose him because he is really funny and also fun to work with. We were given a task so we can learn more about our buddies. Something I learn from Pauliasi is that his favourite colour is blue because he likes the sky and also our birthdays are on the same month. Then after that we were playing a Cook Island quiz. We got given a piece of paper with some questions on it. There were papers around the classroom with our answers on it.
After room 4, room 5 came and we were playing the Cook island quiz as well. My new buddie was Joshua and he was really funny. He knew so much about the Cook Islands that we hardly went to the walls looking for answers. I really enjoy how I got to spend sometime with the junior classes, and I also really enjoy being able to have something in common with them.

Kiwi Sport
For our first lesson of kiwisport we we were doing boxing. I was really happy because this is the first time I have ever did boxing for school. When we got down to the hall our instructor was already down there waiting for us. Our coach's name is Coach Pax. The first thing we learnt was, was our stand. Our stand name was called "Rock Solid". To get into that possession we had to stand still with our feet together, and then we had to fall back and whatever leg made us stand back up is our stand.
The next move that we learnt was the Jab and the Jab is when you throw a punch with your uncomfortable arm. I found it really easy at first but as we kept punching my kept getting sorer and sorer. The next move we learnt was the accross. The across is when you punch with powerful hand. It was a really cool move. Then we did the jab and across together and we started to create a combo. The challenge for me was trying to not stop because my arms were getting tired. Another challenge for me was trying to punch softer and faster.

Natural Disaster
Today we were learning about what an Earthquake is. I've learnt that a Earthquake is a sudden violent shake underground. It is a movement with the earth’s crust or volcanic action. Did you know that The most common cause of earthquakes are the Tectonic plates. When they bump into each other it causes underground vibrations. There are three different ways for plates to interact with each other. In a normal Fault, the plates are separating. Here are some Effects of an Earthquake.
- Houses can break down
- People can get injured
- Peoples powerline can come off
- Your T.V or your devices can crack
- You can get squashed by falling objects

Natural Disaster
WALT:Research about Tornadoes
On the 25th of July 2018 at 12:22 Pm at Tamaki Primary School, I was researching about Tornadoes and how it is formed. I have learnt lots and lots about Tornadoes. A challenge that I have found throughout this discovery is trying to find out what us humans are trying to prevent this from happening. Next time I can probably research deeper into what I am learning about.

Tornadoes
WALT: Research about Natural Disasters
The main Natural Disaster i'll like to learn more about is Tornadoes. Something I have already learnt about Tornadoes is that it spins in circles and it sucks stuff into it. But as I was researching, did you know that most tornadoes form from thunderstorms. You need warm, moist air from Mexico and cool, dry air from Canada. When these two air combine, they create instability in the atmosphere.
Tornadoes are most common in South America. More than 500 tornadoes occur in this area every year, and some people call it the "Tornado Alley". To me this will be a very scary place to live in because I can die really fast and also I will be very dizzy spinning around and around.

Maths Test
IALT: Reflect About My Maths Test
Today we had our Maths test just to see where we are at with our maths. I was really scared because Maths is really hard, but I still really enjoyed doing it. We were given our account and our password for the E-Asttle site. Then we got in to it, I found it really easy at first but as we started getting into the test, the questions started to get harder and harder. But I still managed to get through them. What really helped me the most while I was going through the test was being able to use pen and paper to figure out the question.
I got really stuck on one question which was about degrees and I stayed stuck for about 5 minutes, but then I was using pen and paper to try figure it out and I really think that I got it right. Another thing that also really helped me was being able to know my Divisions and my Multiplications really well.
A challenge for me was trying to figure out the Decimals questions and also trying to be able to remember what the question is asking. Next time I can probably practice so I can get better and better.
If you were stuck on a question what would you do?
