Wonder

IALA:Wonder(Movie)
Today we went to the Movies to watch Wonder.When I walked to school I was so excited because when I was watching the trailer of wonder I was so excited that the movie will be lit.When we got to class the teacher told us to get into groups and everyone has to put their lunch into 1 persons bag.When we lifted the bag it was too heavy because It was filled with drinks lollies and Chocolate and also chips.When we were on the bus we were singing so loud.When the Movie started we all started eating and we couldn't watch the movie because the lolly wrappers were to loud.

Something I enjoy how there were people who cared about August and backed up for him when there was kids bullying him.I really enjoy that part because it can inspire others to help others out and care for others.
My favourite part in the Movie was when there was a fight and August kicked the bully in the leg and then they ran away.I like that part because it is entertaining and people know August can fight.
The key message out of the movie is Accept people for who they are no how they look.It means we shouldn't judge people by how they act or look we should or appreciate each other because we are all the same.

Mauri Drawing

IALT:Define My Mauri

Today we had to use a piece of A4 paper and draw symbols that represent our Mauri.For this task I was so happy because when we finish we all have to share our Ideas.While I was drawing I was so confused of what to draw because I had to many ideas I couldn't think of the main ones.But then I found Out what i was going to draw.My first 1 was my flag which represents my culture.My second one was the book of Mormon which represents my religion.My third one was the sport cricket which represent the sport my family plays.And the last one was my family which represents my family.While I was drawing It felt like I was getting closer and closer to my family and culture.

When we finished we had to present our work.The first person was Kensington and as he was going up he was so Nervous so I felt scared.As people going up they finished and it was our turn and I was so scared that I might say something wrong and people will make fun of me.As I was presenting I was going good until I got stuck but then I got through it then I was finished.

The first Picture Represents my Culture and where I come from.My Second Picture represent my religion and the type of church I grew up in.I drew the book of mormon because I enjoy reading it and now I know the stories that happened in Heaven.My third picture is a man Playing Cricket.I chose this because in Samoa me and my family when ever we get bored we would go to a open space and play cricket there.I chose this because it has helped us bind together as one and let us know more and more people.My fourth one I chose is a picture of my family.There is 6 of us in our family including my parents.My family has helped me become who I am right now.They have fixed every problem I had and they always cheered me up.This is my Mauri.

KiwiSport-Run,Jump and Throw

Today for Kiwisport we were practicing on our Shotput throwing.We were practicing with mini soccer balls.The aim for us today was trying not to throw the ball like you're throwing a tennis ball.We have to place it under your jawline and right under your ear and push it off your palm.While we were throwing my arm started to hurt because I kept throwing it wrong.On our next ball it was a bit heavier even though it was smaller than the mini Soccer ball.When I looked around I saw everyone doing it wrong they just wanted everyone to see how far there one went.

But I threw the ball right and I was doing the right thing.Even though I threw it small I was proud that I know I can do better.Throughout this experience I was happy that I made good metres with the ball.The part I like is that I know that I was doing the right thing.The part I dont like is that my friends around me were doing the wrong thing and when I told them do the right thing they continued on doing the wrong thing.Next time I can keep practicing and get better and better.The part I found challenging is trying to throw farer than I threw before.

Te Tuhi

Yesterday we went to te tuhi and I was so scared because we had to do a roleplay that we never even practiced for.I was so scared that I didn't even wanted to go to te tuhi.I really enjoyed how I didnt think about our role play on the bus because there was to many fun and singing that I never felt scared anymore.While we were singing I was thinking about how our play is going to go.When we got there we sat down and we were waiting for our instructor Salome to come.Once she came we went to the auditorium to do our roleplay.Once we went inside we were all surprised because everything was dark and there was lights facing the middle and chairs in a semi circle.When the first group went up to do there role play I was so scared that we would be next.When the first group was up they weren scared and they were confident.So I decided if I was there I wouldnt be scared.We were the last group to go up and I wasnt scared at all.When we finished I was happy that we finished and I was proud of myself for giving it a go and not being scared.

Kiwisport

Today for kiwi sport we were doing Run Jump and throw.When we got their we were a bit to early because Room 10 was still having their time.But as I was watching they were doing relays and I was so excited because I like to run but in my own time.When it was our turn we started of with a warm up.Our warm up game was called Maui Matau.Maui means Left and Matau means right.We all had a long stick to hold.When the leader calls Maui we let go of our stick and try grab the stick on you left.When you fail you are out of the game.The point of the game is trying to be the last one to drop the stick.While we were playing I got confused and when the leader called Matau I went to the left and got three other people out including myself.

After our warm up we went and practiced on our start when we race.We got a few tips on how to run faster and also how to push yourself of the ground faster.While we were taking some tries of running I realized that I was beating some of my friends that I couldn't beat before.After that we played relays.Our team was very good.In my team was Sene,Leilani,Akih Alone and me.When we had to run even farer my team chose me to go but I was so scared that I might make my team lose and they might get angry at me.But at the end of our session everyone was a champion.

Maths

Today for maths we were doing word problems to solve.During this experience I was really frustrated because as I was explaining how I got the answer to my pairs they kept on questioning me that they couldn't understand what I was talking about, but I would agree with them because I was talking way too fast for their ears.During my maths my friends kept on talking to me which made me not do enough work.The part I like was being able to finish the first two questions.The part I found challenging is solving part 3 and part 4.Next time I could move away from my friends.

Writing

Today we had to do a Writing test in the morning because we never did it yesterday.I was very scared because I wasn't prepared and my head was hurting a little bit.When I was starting I didn't know what we were writing about because I never read the whole thing.But lucky my teacher was there to show me what we were meant to write about.While we were doing our test my friend Metui was making me laugh.The part I very like is finishing my test before we had to go outside for morning tea.The part I found challenging is thinking of good words to put in my text.Next time I could practice more about my language features.

KiwiSport(Jump,Run & Throw)

Today for kiwisport we had a new Sport.It wasn't really a sport it was more much like practicing our running and Jumping.I really enjoyed that I got to experience something new and something that I thought was crazy.When we got down there I saw the same teacher that I saw on Red Nose day during our activities.We were all surprised because we never knew that he will be there.For our first game we played a game which there are 2 teams and four hula hoops on each corner.In the corner are 5 cones.The point of the game is to go to the other team and steal there cones and bring it back to you hula hoop.During that game I was so happy because our team won.The part I like the most is winning all the challenges and also learning new games I can teach my pairs at church.My next steps are to think deeper into this sport.

Maths

IALA:Fractions
Today for Maths I was doing some activities that were in the maths basket.The first activity I did was a place Value game.I really enjoyed that game because when ever my pairs would ask me a question I will always get the answer under 3 seconds.This game has helped me to solve harder problems that I couldn't solve before.The next game was a hard game because it was fractions but I still gave it a go.I was always struggling but by the help of my friends they made it easier and easier for me.Throughout this experience I learnt that you don't know if its hard if you haven't actually tried it.The part I really enjoyed was being able to solve problems I couldn't solve before.And I was really happy so next time someone asked me a question I will be able to use my place values skills to solve it.The part I found challenging was working on my fractions because i've never tried really hard fraction, but I still managed to get it.The part I didn't like was when I didn't have enough time to play the next game because I was to busy blogging my work.

Maths

IALT:Extend the way I explain my work

Today for maths I was solving out how many money each group that's working gets.Throughout this experience I found it really hard because I didnt know how many money each person will get.The part I really enjoyed was being able to complete the whole task our teacher has given us.The part I found very challenging was when I wasn't able to solve the last question was which one can't you split evenly.Because 2 of them couldnt split evenly so I was so confused to pick which one you can't split evenly.But me and my friends were figuring it out together and we got the answer.The part I didn't enjoy was getting stuck on the hard bits of the work because some of them didn't make sense to me.Next time I can work on my decimal points.

Writing

IALA:An explanation Text
For writing I was so energised cause I was really happy to talk about my church to others.This was a really fun experience because I get to show others what religion I'm from and how it affects my life.When I was working my friends kept on asking me How does it feel to be mormon? or How come your mormon instead of christian or catholic?.The part I really enjoyed is being able to tell others about my religion and my side of the story.The part I found challenging was being able to explain how I feel about my religion.The part I didn't enjoy is that others were mocking my religion and saying that it is fake but I dont care because it is What I believe in and what my ancestors believe.

Today we never had Cybersmarts but we were still working on what we did last week which was our infographic.Today I was working on what we should say on other people's blog and what we shouldnt do on other people's blog.I was very confused at first because I never knew what we were meant to do.But as I looked at other people's chromebook and then we also had to write Why we should be positive online.I was really happy because I was one of the first people to finish even though I was one of the last people to start.When I was working I kept getting distracted by my friends.

The part I really enjoyed was being able to use a new site and finish before my friends even though I was distracted.My next steps are to use the site for posters or D.L.O's our teacher gives us.The part I didn't like was when I was so confuse that I started very late.

Rugby Tournament Reflection

IALT:Improve my Skills in Playing Rugby

Today we went to a Rugby Tournament. I was very hyped because Last term when we were waiting for the tournament It was postponed to today.When we were walking down to Rugby I was really pumped cause all my cousins were telling me to play hard and to make your family proud.That motivated me to go all out and give my best and make my family smile.When We got there I saw lots of my cousins from different schools.1 of them came running up to me and embarrassed me.Our first game was against Glen Innes Primary and that was our easiest game cause we left them try list and we got 11 tries against them.When I was playing I got angry cause when I kept tackling them they always kneed my head so on my next tackle I lifted him up and tackled him down my hardest.I almost got told off but lucky the ref didn't see.

On our second game we were versing Glen Brae Primary and that was another easy game because we left them try list as well.When we versed glenbrae I saw 2 of my Cousins George and Miami.They were the best players in there team that I couldnt hold on to them that tight.But luckily as I slipped down I grabbed they're  leg and they tripped over.But we won 35-0.Our 3rd game was against Glen Taylor and that was our hardest game cause they had bigger players than us but we still left them try list.They were really hard to tackle but I still managed to get them down.We won to them 20-0.Our last game was the easiest game and was against panmure bridge.

They were a good team because even if we were bigger and faster they weren't  scared at all.We won to them 60-0.The best part I enjoyed was winning all our games and also making new friends and lastly keeping the other teams try list.

School Holidays

IALA:White Sunday
On the first week of school Holidays I was mostly at church practicing my bible verse for White Sunday.My bible Verse is Found in Nephi Chapter 5 Verse 2 and it reads in Samoan "Ou te filifili le mea sao e ala I le ola ai I mataupu fa'avae O le Talalelei.Ou te alu ma fai ia mea ua poloaina ele atua, aua ua ou iloa i le aumai ele atua ni poloaiga i le fanauga a tagata. Seiloga na te saunia le ala moi latou ia mafai fai le mea ua poloaina ai I lataou".When I was church practicing for white sunday I was thinking of my friends at school.A friend I really miss is Toma because He's always making me laugh and always putting a smile to my face.On sunday I was very tired cause I had to wake up early in the morning to help my mum and dad cook the food and also I had to change my 3 nephews in to their church clothes.My holidays were exciting cause we went to rainbowzend and it was sometimes boring cause my friends werent their.

Maths

IALA: The word Profit
Today for maths we were given a task to figure out.The task was mostly based on how to split up the fudge very evenly.I really enjoyed maths today cause I learnt new words Like Profit.The meaning of profit is when you Bought something for a amount of money and sell for even more money that you brought it with.The part I found very challenging was Figuring out how many fudge goes into each bag.The part I didn't enjoy when I was stuck on a very hard word but then a Teacher came and helped me through it.Today I learnt how to solve equations even faster and faster and also I learnt new words.When I was working through the questions I was starting to forget how I solved the other equations.

Maori Language Week

IALA:The maori language week
Today we had an assembly about the Maori Culture.Today was very amazing cause I learnt new Maori songs like Miss Kyla's Matariki Song.As we were singing the chorus she taught us it was Inspiring me to create a song of my own.When we were singing the boys that were behind me was singing very loud and Kind of put the song of.The Highlight for me today was seeing different classes go up and showed what they learnt from the maori language week. The part I didn't like the most is that our class didn't present anything but its ok.Next time I can learn more about the maori culture and 1 day I might be representing them as my hobby.

New Zealand Celebrates Maori Language Week

Te Reo is Being Celebrated in New Zealand.The theme for this year is Kia ora te reo Māori which means, “Let the Māori Language live”.I've learnt lots about the Maori Language and it has helped me to learn new Languages.Ko Te whanau He tonu which means family is forever.Maori Language Week is about raising awareness about te reo in New Zealand and promoting the language.

According to Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori – the Māori Language Commission 130,000 people have conversational fluency, 300,000 are learning at school and 10,000 are learning in tertiary education.This Thursday, September 14, marks the day in 1972 that the Māori Language Petition was delivered to Parliament. The petition, initiated by activist group Nga Tamatoa, contained more than 30,000 signatures, and paved the way for Māori language to be taught in schools.

IALT:Get Better at my Multiplication

For maths I was practicing my multiplication by starting from 1 going all the way up to 12.When I got the cards to do maths instead of doing maths we were playing last card and go straight of task.When we got of Task my teacher asked all of us how many blog do we have for September and we are all meant to have 6 but I only had 5 so this is my 6th blog.For maths I was trying to get better at my multiplication by trying to get the answer under 3 seconds.Most of the time I got it under 3 seconds but the hard ones I almost got it under a minute.The challenge for me today was trying to get under 3 seconds and getting better and better.Next time I can get a friend to help me get better and better.The part I never liked the most is when I kept on failing.

Hurricane Irma hits Caribbean

Hurricane Irma has caused a very big destruction in Caribbean. More than half of the island’s three million residents were without power as Irma caused heavy strong winds. People have said that power could be cut off for more than 3 weeks.

The most Atlantic powerful storm in a decade had wind speeds of 295 km h.The small island of Barbuda is said to be “barely habitable” while officials warn that the French territory of St Martin is almost destroyed.

Throughout this article I Felt very sad that some people can die.The part I felt happy is that not that much people died.Next time I can check the weather if there's a storm heading this way.

Tongan Language Week Assembly

IALA:The Tongan Language
On Thursday the 7th of September we had a Tongan Language Assembly.After morning Tea we had a Whole school assembly.When we went to the hall there was no more seats for our class because it was full of parents cheering.I was so hyped because I knew this assembly was going to be lit.When we sat on the floor  we were all squished against each other and there was no pathway for the people to go up on the stage.When it was my friends turn to perform they were doing their ancestry poem.

Their performance had the loudest cheer out of the whole assembly.After the assembly we were called class by class to go and eat at the hall.When it was our class turn half of the table was gone and it was like we were eating the kids leftovers.After we ate we had lunchtime and It was like around 10 Minutes.

Today I was writing a poem about me and my Ancestors.My poem mostly talks about me because my ancestors helped me become who I am right now.The challenge for me today was trying to think really hard for adjectives.

HIP HOP

IALT:Create my own dance Move

Today for hip hop we had to get into our groups and learn our dance.Before we got started into our groups we had to do a little summary about what we have learnt the past few weeks.We had to name all the dances down and they all are James Brown,Janet Jackson,Smurf,Elf and also Patty duke.There were more dance moves but I forgot.When we got split up into our groups I wanted to switch to go to my friends.But then I wanted to stay because I know if i'm with my friends we will get nothing done and we will look like fools on the stage.

So as I was practising with my group there was a person who feels like not participating and that threw me off because when ever we kept telling him to join he would be to scared.But as we were dancing hard out he was moving a little bit and all he needed was a little bit of encouragement.When It was presenting time my friends group went first and that was the group I wanted to join, When they were told to go up on stage someone in there group put there hand up and said"Sorry Miss we don't have one".And I felt very lucky because If I joined there group I would be embarrassed.

When it was our turn I was very nervous to get up because people might laugh at me.As our danced finished I felt very proud of myself and my group.The part I found challenging was convincing one person from my group to dance.The part I like the most is that me and My team did very well.

It’s official: an Argentine dinosaur as heavy as a Boeing 737 is the biggest ever discovered.

The dinosaur weighed more than 65,000kg a new study says. I think it was 37 metres long. That makes the animal not just the biggest dinosaur but also the biggest known animal ever.and this dinosaur’s bones show it was still growing.

Scientists have made fossils of six different Patagotitan Mayo family farm. The 150 bones include examples of 30% of the animal’s skeleton, which to scientists is almost as mind-boggling as the animal’s weight.

This made me think that dinosaurs are still alive.Reading this article surprised me a lot.The challenge for me today was believing that the dinosaurs bones are still growing.The part I like the most was when I heard the dinosaurs got 150 bones.

Why do storms have names?

Huge storms are often in the news but have you ever wondered why they have names and how they are decided?

Why do they need names?
Tropical storms like hurricanes, cyclones or typhoons are given names so scientists can keep track of them.
In some places there can be over 100 storms in just 12 months, so names make them much easier for experts to tell them apart.

Who makes the name decisions?
There are regular meetings of weather scientists around the world to decide on new names for the next year.
Names of storms which cause a lot of damage are never used again.

Storms are named in alphabetical order.
The first storm of a year will have an A name, like Hurricane Alice or Typhoon Andrew, the next one gets a B name and so on.
There is a name for each letter of the alphabet – but Q, U, X, Y and Z are not included.

Who decides if they’re named after girls or boys?
Storms take it in turns to have girls’ or boys’ names.
Originally storms were only named after girls. In 1979, men’s names were introduced.

Blue dogs

Dogs in the Indian city of Mumbai are turning blue.

It was thought stray dogs were turning blue after wading into the Kasadi River, near the Taloja industrial area, to get food.

Concerns were raised by Arati Chauhan, head of the Navi Mumbai Animal Protection Cell, who posted pictures online of one dog whose fur had been dyed blue.

A complaint has been laid with the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, which said the dogs that turned blue had gone into the river near the site of a company that used blue dye for a range of purposes.

The company had also been told to immediately remove the dye it was discharging.

I find this article very funny because blue is one of my favourite coulors and I never knew there can be blue dogs.

Studdy Ladder(Maths)

IAL:How to beat my High score

Today for maths I was on studyladder trying to get lots of coins and trying to beat my friends.Through this experience it was fun and challenging at the same time.When I was answering I looked of over to my friends screen and he was Inspecting the score, I was going to do it with him but that still doesn't change my real score So I just carried on answering the questions.When the game was over I quickly tapped refresh on his screen and his real amount of coins was 123 while I had 480.

The challenge for me today was trying not to cheat and to not get mixed up with the answers.The part I like the most is winning and being proud of myself.THe part I never like the most was getting mixed up with the questions.

Technology Reflection(Cooking)

Today for Technology I was surprised because I thought that last we was the last week of me in cooking class but I think I was wrong.I was so Happy and sad at the same time because I wanted to go to Mr Grundie so I can learn something New.Today we made Nachos with mince and pasta sauce.When we were making the mice and onions My buddy Matthew kept on eating it when I looked away.The part I found challenging was trying to not eat the food while I was cooking it aswell.That part I hate the most is burning our onions.The part I like the most is eating it with the Nachos and also sprinkling the cheese.

Ingredients

1. Pasta Sauce

1. Dice the onion
2. Fry until soft not brown
3. Add mince and fry until brown
4. Add the sauce + Bake beans

Today for cybersmarts we had to create a map that has our history on it.The first one I had was google document.The second one I had is google drive.The third one I have is google slides.The fourth one I have is the calculator.The fifth one I have is my blogger.My sith one I have is the NRL site.And the last one I have is my gmail.The challenge for me today was trying to fit all the icon on each country.The part I hat the most was trying to find the right Icon.The part I liked the most is being able to put up a work Im proud of.Next time I can work on making space for the Icons.

DREAM

Today we were talking about our dreams with Ms Aireen. We all had to go and Make A DLO about our dreams.The part I found challenging was thinking about my dreams because I wanted to be lots and lots of things.The part I liked the most is picking my 2 favourite and putting a reason behind it.My first 1 is being a pianist and my second dream is playing NFL.

Technology Reflection(Cooking)

Today we had Technology and I was very sad because it was our last day in Cooking Class.But then I was excited because I'm gonna learn something new in a new class.For our last session in Cooking we made a chocolate cake with whip cream on top.It was very fun and funny because when we were mixing it was watery because my buddy forgot the flour.When I was laughing I got in trouble because I was laughing more than working.Throughout this experience I felt very happy of myself.Another thing I found funny was when our cake finished baking it came out looking like a rock.The part I found challenging was trying to mix it because It felt like dough.The part I like the most is eating it with whip cream.

Chocolate Cake Ingredients:

• 3/4 cups butter or margarine, softened
• 3 eggs
• 2 cups sugar
• 2 cups flour
• 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
• 2 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 1/2 cup milk

How to make Chocolate Cake:

1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Grease and flour three 6" X 1 1/2" round cake pans.
3. Mix together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda. Set aside.
4. In a large bowl, beat butter, eggs and vanilla.
5. Gradually add sugar.
6. Beat on medium to high speed for about 3-4 minutes until well mixed
7. Alternately combine in flour mixture and milk to batter while beating.
8. Continue to beat until batter is smooth.
9. Pour equal amounts of batter into greased and floured round cake pans.
10. Bake 30 to 35 minutes.
11. Check with a toothpick to se if it is done. Bake a few minutes more, if needed.
12. Remove from oven and allow cakes to cool in pans for a few minutes.
